Benjamin Mendez Pereira was described as a ginger beer maker at Luton Row in the 1850/51 'Province of New Munster Gazette' jury lists. He may have worked from the same premises of James Gerrard, who operated a brewery from Luton Row from 1849 to 1851.

By 1854 Pereira had given up his soft drink interest as he became a dealer and was based in Cuba Street.
