The N.Z. Aerated Water and Cordial Co. Ltd.
1884 - 1887
On 3rd October 1884, following a restructure of the business, Strike & Fairlie changed the name of their company to 'The New Zealand Aerated Water and Cordial Company Limited'. The company became incorporated at this time, which makes it one of the earliest, if not the earliest, aerated water and cordial manufacturer in New Zealand to operate under limited liability which in effect protected the personal assets of the individual owners of the company.
In 1884 the company was listed as 'Strike & Fairlie's N.Z. Aerated Water and Cordial Company Limited' and while the factory was at Lorne Street, the company office was located in Willis Street. There was also a branch office of the company in Christchurch, managed by Mr. John Strike.
The company's trademark was its own name, and this was registered on the 16th of March 1886.
