A. Hamilton
1880 - 1885
Andrew Hamilton established an aerated water business in 1880 and named it the 'Eagle Aerated Water and Cordial Factory', the first in a series of eight companies spanning over one hundred years to make use of the eagle trademark.
The eagle became known as a phoenix (a mystical bird rising from a fire) when Maurice Samuel bought Grey's dilapidated business. Perhaps there had been a fire in Grey's old premises and Samuel thought the change was fitting.
In 1885 Andrew Hamilton merged with William Strike to form 'Strike & Hamilton'.
